About Us

Dave Fromer

Dave Fromer has been a central figure in the popularization of soccer among the youth of Marin over the past thirty-five years. Dave is a former collegiate All-American and national champion (three teams, including the first national championship youth team from the Western U.S.).  He has facilitated and mentored many thousands of young players through his Marin, San Francisco, and Lake Tahoe Soccer Camps (for ages 5-14), his Winter Indoor Soccer League (for ages 4-18), and his Pee Wee Soccer & K-1 classes (for ages 3-6). He coached boys' and girls' teams at Tamalpais High School for 15 years and has coached many youth teams, including those of his son, his daughter, and his grandchildren, through the Mill Valley Soccer Club (which he co-founded in 1976). Dave also co-founded the MVSC Girls' Soccer League and helped start the Marin Women's Soccer League.  Dave has also inspired countless children through his love of music – he performs at schools, community events, and birthday parties, teaches guitar, and recently recorded a national award-winning children’s CD, titled "Shake a Hand," available through www.DaveFromerMusic.com.

Jacki Fromer

Jacki, Dave’s wife, has participated in all aspects of the ‘behind-the-scenes’ management of Marin Soccer Programs from its inception. Previously, Jacki worked for 13 years for a community non-profit organization providing support services for parents and training programs for childcare providers. She is the co-author of Meals Without Squeals: A Childcare Feeding Guide and Cookbook, Teaching Children About Food, and Childhood Emergencies: What to Do, available at Bull Publishing, http://www.bullpub.com/meals.html). To date, three of Dave & Jacki’s grandchildren have attended Marin Soccer programs and are avid players. Granddaughter Kaya is now a camp assistant counselor. Jacki recently published a children’s book, Amazing Animal Antics: Alphabet Alliterations, A-Z, illustrated by her grandson, Isaiah Usher. It’s available at http://www.lulu.com/content/paperback-book/amazing-animal-antics/4598228

Rachel Usher

Daughter Rachel Usher manages operations of the Fromer family soccer business. A true “soccer mom” (Kaya, 17, and Isaiah, 13) with a credential in Early Childhood Education, Rachel helps oversee all aspects of each program to ensure a top-quality and well-rounded experience for each participant. Rachel also has extensive coaching experience with youth soccer teams and after-school sports classes.

Lewis Usher

Son in-law Lewis Usher has been a beloved presence across the wide range of Fromer family soccer programs. Since moving to Marin from his native Belize in 1992, Lewis has served as a hugely popular coach and trainer for teams and individuals, taught after-school soccer and basketball, coordinated and coached a large 4 & 5 year-old league, and hosted an in-demand program of sports-themed birthday parties. For many years, he and Rachel have been volunteer coaches for the teams of their daughter and son.

Reed Fromer

Son Reed Fromer coordinates several facets of the Winter Indoor Soccer League, including division alignment, game scheduling, staffing, and team-by-team progress monitoring. Reed, who has refereed youth soccer for over 28 years, also carries on the family traditions of music and teaching, as a mathematics teacher, a popular youth chorus instructor, the leader of a great rhythm & blues band (www.reedfromermusic.com), and a studio producer (who oversaw the production of his father's CD). His wife, Gina Fromer, also plays a pivotal role in the lives of youth as Executive Director of the Bayview YMCA in San Francisco. Their youngest son, Devin, 7, played his fourth season of indoor soccer in 2011. Reed recently published a children's book on diversity, available at http://www.lulu.com/browse/preview.phpfCID=3933120

Mark Mackbee

Mark Mackbee, Dave & Jacki's nephew, brings a wealth of soccer knowledge and accomplishment to his role as Program Director for the summer camp sessions. He also referees and directs the clinics for the Winter Indoor Soccer League. Mark played soccer professionally in Germany and Denmark, was a member of USF's 1980 NCAA Championship team, and won additional championships in the US over-30 and over-40 leagues. As a coach, he led Tamalpais and Novato High Schools to NCS titles. His son Shay, 9, is in his fifth year of the Fromer Soccer Programs.

Linda Price

Linda has been the administrative assistant for Dave Fromer’s Soccer Programs since 1999.  She is an active soccer player, fan, and parent who has served as a coach, team manager, and referee for the Mill Valley Soccer Club and Tiburon Peninsula Soccer League.  Linda has lived in Marin since 1989 with her husband, Nadav Nur, and her children, Alana and Rafi Nur, where she has been actively involved in Mill Valley schools (Tam Valley, MVMS, Tam HS). Both of her children played many years in the MVSC & TPSL; her son played soccer at Tam HS and with Marin FC. Linda’s other activities include dance, skiing, tennis, and hiking. She also plays guitar, piano, and dulcimer, and loves to sing!
